Welsh rock n roll guitar and singing legend Dave Edmunds is welcomed to President Records as his peak period ‘Swan Song’ catalogue has been acquired.
Edmunds has had an illustrious career as musical director /producer/ artist. Working and performing with industry greats such as Paul McCartney, Led Zeppelin, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Bruce Springsteen, Keith Richards, The Stray Cats. He also got to work with his own musical heroes Carl Perkins, Chuck Berry , Chet Atkins, Les Paul, and produce rock’n’roll TV extravaganzas involving Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, Ray Charles, Bo Diddley. Ultimately even producing two albums with his all time favourites The Everly Brothers.
The ‘Swan Song’ catalogue includes the four albums released 1977-1981 when Edmunds was signed to the record label of that name started by Led Zeppelin and run through Atlantic Records. All produced by Edmunds the albums GET IT, TRAX ON WAX4 , REPEAT WHEN NECESSARY, TWANGIN’ also boasted fine contributions from Edmunds then bandmates in cult rockers Rockpile – Terry Williams, Nick Lowe, Billy Bremner. He toured the world with Rockpile , notably including touring the US with Led Zeppelin and Bad Company. They went from Pub Rock to New Wave to international pop recognition.
Single chart hits from these albums include I Knew The Bride, Girls Talk, Queen of Hearts, Crawling From The Wreckage, Singing The Blues, Almost Saturday Night, The Race Is On (with The Stray Cats).
Edmunds wore his 50s rock n roll / r’n’b / country rock influences on his sleeve. This he blended with the classic songs penned by his contemporaries Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe, Graham Parker, Mickey Jupp creating an instantly identifiable sound to lasting effect.
President Records, has also acquired the North American rights to Edmunds 1970 chart topper I Hear You Knocking.
