From Frome in Somerset, The Black Earth released two singles and an album on the President label in 1988 and a second album two years later. Jason Moore (guitar), Jane Rees (piano / vocals), Dominic McDonald (bass / keyboards / vocals) and Richard Stout (drums) first got together in 1984 and after the release of their eponymous first album added a fifth member, Robin King (keyboards) for the second album “The Feeling” in 1990. Their band was described as “ardent environmentalists” whose music was “coming somewhere between melodic 80s gothic, big American AOR and the more ethereal British indie warblings”.
